Photovoltaic Technology Impacts on Environment Essay
Research Proposal on Photovoltaic Technology Impacts on Environment The research will explore the effects that brought about by the degradation of photovoltaic panels to the environment. This will also include the effect of degradation photovoltaic when exposed to both fresh and salt water. The study will also include an assessment of degradation effect on the performance and reliability of photovoltaic system. Thus, this research will focus on the outcome of having a photovoltaic panel lying on the surface of water. Thus, the effects created will be determined and the array design adjusted accordingly. Further, another environmental issue that will be investigated is the ecological impact created from the transmission of extraordinaryâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦From this study, it was concluded that the hazardous emissions that are connected to photovoltaic technology are only connected the consumption of energy in the manufacturing process. In 2010, a research project was funded by the Clean Energy Fund. This project only focused on understan ding the effects of photovoltaic to the environment. According to this research, photovoltaic energy is in a perfect position to be included in low carbon energy technologies to sustain future energy. The study also concluded that the amount produced was too low to pose adverse effect to the environment. Objectives i. To determine the total greenhouse gasses emission throughout the lifecycle of photovoltaic technologies ii. To investigate effects on marine and fresh water resulting from the degradation of photovoltaic solar panels in water iii. To examine the effect of the installation and presence of photovoltaic panels on the water surface iv. To determine the ecological effects of photovoltaic panels especially on the transmission of high-voltage currents in the aquatic environment. v. To examine the assessment of degradation effect on the performance and reliability of photovoltaic vi. Assess the irradiance and oxygen level measurements as well as the consequences of the same on the aquatic environment lying beneath the arrayShow MoreRelatedLikely Problems for the Huanghe Hydropower Golmud Solar Park1439 Words à |à 6 PagesProblems likely to face the Huanghe Hydropower Golmud Solar Park System design flaws The statistical table of photovoltaic power generation in Golmud area was reported by the power company of Qinghai province in March, 2012: there are several photovoltaic power station generating capacity was even zero in the first two months. Apparently, systems of parts of stations had the design problems, such as no stability control device; lack of power forecasting or signal impassability; the insulation doesRead MoreEssay Solar Energy May Save the Earth1393 Words à |à 6 Pagesthe quantity that remains. Solar power solves both of these problems and can be captured by utilizing photovoltaic cells. However, photovoltaic cells have their own drawbacks due to their high costs of installation and maintenance. The world currently functions through the use of fossil fuels. However, fossil fuels possess two significant disadvantages. Fossil fuels harm the global environment because they enhance the greenhouse effect by releasing carbon dioxide, and they release other harmfulRead MoreWhat is Solar Energy?641 Words à |à 3 Pagesmagnifying glasses to concentrate sunââ¬â¢s rays to produce fire. Today we concentrate the sunââ¬â¢s energy in a number of ways and use this solar energy for everything. One technology that we use to convert light energy from the sun into electricity is solar panels. A solar panel is a packaged, intersected assortment of solar, or photovoltaic, cells that can be used to produce and supply electricity in a range of settings. The panels use light energy from the sun to produce electricity to power your homeRead MoreIncreasing The Efficiency Of Photovoltaic Panels By Trapping And Reflecting Light Energy Essay1126 Words à |à 5 PagesIncreasing the Efficiency of Photovoltaic Panels by Trapping and Reflecting Light Energy Introduction: Objectives: To create a more reflective and efficient photovoltaic roof panel in order to allow buildings with photovoltaic-panel roofs to meet LEED standards. Justification (need/specification): This work is important as our carbon intake is much too high and if we are to reduce it so by 2050 we only have twice as much CO2 in the atmosphere as we do now. At this point, we are due to have threeRead MoreThe Impact Of Solar Energy On Society1062 Words à |à 5 PagesSolar Energy Rossana Contreras Jennifer J. Every weather pattern on earth is driven by the intensity of energy transferred to earth by the sun. By stepping out on a sunny day, one can have the idea about the power of the energy of the sun. Besides having, a number of impacts on the humankind the sun also play a major role in providing food to grow, for plants. The plants get energy and use it as an essential part of their food this phenomenon is called as photosynthesis in simple words. Another way is by using photovoltaic cells or solar cells that transform sunlight directly into electricity (Solar Explained). In May 1954, photovoltaic cell, which is made out of a semiconductor called silicon, was developed by three research scientists at Bell Telecommunication Laboratories. These research scientists are Gerald Leondus Pearson, Daryl Chapin, and Calvin Fuller. The invention of solar cell had a huge impact in the economy. Solar cells were used as a supplyRead MoreThe Solar Of Solar Cell1648 Words à |à 7 Pageselectricity through the conversion of light energy, through the photovoltaic effect. The photovoltaic effect is a chemical and physical phenomenon, and relates to the creation of electrical current within a material when it is exposed to light. Solar cells are considered to be photovoltaic, despite whether the source of light is produced artificially, or is from the sun.
